Keeping our children learning and engaged in the summer is imperative to continued development. Not only it is a fun way for kids to spend the summer days, but also an opportunity for them to really hone their skills, learn new subjects and make new friends. Moreover, placing your kindergartener in a summer camp that is integrated with an Ontario kindergarten curriculum can help your child catch up or advance their learning while having fun at the same time.

Benefits of Kindergarten Summer Camp

Some of the most meaningful experiences for a child can come from attending a summer camp. Summer camp is beneficial for children of all ages, but it is especially beneficial for kindergarteners. Kindergarten Summer Camps give children the opportunity to develop their personal social skills. In addition, they can meet and interact with children their own age, which is crucial for developing social skills.

Since the onset of the pandemic, children missed out on so many opportunities for social interaction with children their age. Attending a summer camp would enrich your child’s physical and mental well-being, while setting them up for developmental success. The benefits go beyond social and educational aspects. It builds your kindergartner’s character and problem-solving skills and influences mental stimulation and physical activity.

What a day looks like inside SimplySmart Kindergarten Summer Camp

SimplySmart camp runs for 8 weeks beginning July 4 until August 26. Campers can attend summer camp at two of our Oakville (Winston Churchill and Iroquois) and Mississauga campus locations, subject to space availability.  Our kindergarten summer camp encourages social, emotional, cognitive, language, literacy, and physical development. With that in mind, each week will have a special and engaging theme based on the Ontario kindergarten curriculum and put together by our teachers. Some fun, educational topics and workshops include:

  • Animals – A trip around Europe
  • Science – Mad scientist on the loose
  • Math – Sorting, graphing and numbers: Oh my!
  • Engineering – How things work and move?

Each day will be scheduled to involve children in an Ontario kindergarten curriculum topic such as math, STEM, craft, outdoor, and other activities. The day will begin in the morning at 8:00 am and will end in the evening at 5:00 pm, giving flexibility to parents. It’s very convenient, so there is no need to worry about before or after camp childcare. There will be a hot, nutritious lunch and two snacks provided. Our summer camp has a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:10 or lower. This ensures that each child will get the attention they need and can be properly observed. At our SimplySmart summer camp, we offer a fun playground, perfect for outdoor play and fun in the sun, ensuring the children get enough physical activity throughout the day.
